#65 SUE FROST, Producer

Sue Frost is one of the most inspirational producers working on Broadway. In addition to her indefatigable generosity, Sue is one of the theatre’s loudest advocates for new musicals. In addition to the Tony Award winning Memphis, Sue also produced Make Me A Song, First Date, Doctor Zhivago, and one of Behind the Curtain’s favorite musicals, this season’s Come From Away.

Sue pulls back the curtain on her career, including how a train ride to Washington DC cemented her journey, what was the impetus to produce Come From Away, and why she refunded 1,506 people in one night! Also, Sue walks us through the process of producing a new musical!

AND, Sue shines the spotlight on Chita Rivera, Donny Osmond, and Doug Henning, who could make an entire audience disappear!

  1. I enjoyed hearing about your backstory and a bit more about Come From Away.

We have followed Come From Away on their (so far) two year journey from La Jolla to Broadway ever since we got an email from Great Big Sea telling us Bob Hallett was your Newfie Music Consultant, and that you’d extended the run @LJPlayhouse to the weekend we happened to be flying west to see our kids. We’ve been hooked ever since. Saw it 7/12/15 @LJPlayhouse, 9/10/16 @FordsTheatre, and have tickets to see it 6/3 and 6/4 on our first trip to NYC and Broadway. Everyone affiliated with this show has put forth a huge effort to bring it to the Great White Way, and we thank you for that.
